Lloyds TSB photography weather competition

As a nation we Brits just love talking (moaning!) about the weather. Now it’s time to stop talking and start snapping for your chance to demonstrate your photographic prowess to the nation. Lloyds TSB are running a fantastic competition to find the British weather photographer of the year. To celebrate many years of insuring homes against the British elements, Lloyds are asking photographers to send in weather related photos for the chance to win £10,000. Hot lazy days maybe few and far in-between, but an English summer still offers plenty of chances to capture a glimmering horizon or glittering scenes of summer rain. To enter the competition, participants must submit their photos capturing British weather to the Lloyds TSB website. The entries will be judged by a leading panel of meteorologists and photographers and the overall winner will be picked on the basis of flair, technique and originality. All visitors to the site can vote for their favourite photographs, and each week the one with the most votes wins £100. The photos taken by the 12 lucky finalists will be put in a public exhibition for a week before the overall winner of £10,000 is announced. Competition Info • The competition runs from 13th April to 30th September 2010, with judging of the 12 finalists taking place in November. • Photographs must be taken in the UK. • Entrants can submit as many photographs as they wish. Entrants are required to: • be 18 or over. • be a UK resident. • have the right to use the images. • read the full Terms & Conditions. The competition will run from April 13th – September 30th 2010. Take a look at entries submitted so far. This is a great opportunity for all amateur photographers to get some recognition for their talents and if you don’t plan to enter make sure you vote for your favourite.
Here is our first submission, not technically great as it was snapped on the iphone but we think it sums up the essence of British summer, blue sky, hot air ballons and road trips. Happy snapping!
