Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2009

We visited the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Natural History Museum in London a couple of weeks ago and were blown away by the quality of the work on display.
The competition is now in its 45th year and has become an international showcase for the very best nature photography. Indeed being accepted into this competition is something that wildlife photographers, worldwide, aspire to.

The competition has multiple categories including the Gerald Durrell Award for Endangered Wildlife and the One Earth Award which aims to highlight conservation issues or actions and the interaction between humans and the natural world. This is beautifully summed up in the image shown above of the King Penguin, and that didn't even win!
Visit the website or better still visit the exhibition to judge the entries for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
